Brian May founded the group Queen in 1972 along with Roger Taylor, Freddie Mercury, and John Deacon. Brian attended Imperial College in London and read physics and infra-red astronomy, graduating with a B.Sc. Honours degree in Physics and Maths. He later spent four years working on a (still incomplete) doctorate thesis in astronomy. He met band member Taylor through an ad placed on the college notice board. May is an accomplished songwriter and is known for his multi-track guitar harmonies. During the seventies and eighties Queen showed their glam-rock and eclecticism with hit singles like, "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", and "Another One Bites the Dust". In 1991 Freddie Mercury died of AIDS and May began his solo career recording soundtracks and forming The Brian May Band. |
