Parsons began as an EMI Records staff engineer who attracted attention for his work on the Beatles' Abbey Road. He went on to make contributions for Wings, Pilot, Cockney Rebel, Al Stewart, and Pink Floyd's "Dark Side Of The Moon". An inspired Pasons went on to form a partnership with songwriter Eric Woolfson to create the Alan Parsons Project. The duo's debut "Tales Of Mystery And Imagination" was an adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe's work. This work set a trend, as Parsons would later explore specific themes in his releases including mysticism and science fiction. Parsons became the head of EMI studio interests in 1997.
